DHP Family Wins Big at Live Music Business Awards 2017
Last night, we were honoured to pick up the coveted National Promoter of the Year award, as well as awards for Rock City and its multi-venue festival Dot to Dot.
We were also delighted to see the Spectacle of the Year go to Ed Sheeran at The O2 as the co-promoter on the global superstar’s shows. We scooped the awards after garnering the most votes of the three finalists in each category from their peers in the music industry.
Our managing director George Akins said: “It’s absolutely fantastic to have been awarded national promoter for the third time. We’ve got a great team here at DHP that cares passionately about what we do and it looks like our peers think we get it right too. And to also win awards for our flagship venue Rock City and Dot to Dot festival shows the breadth of our capabilities as one of the UK’s fastest growing live entertainment companies.”
Our iconic venue Rock City won the award for the Best Club with a capacity of 800+. With a record number of main hall shows this year, the venue continues to be a favourite with artists and audiences alike. Rock City general manager Mark Smith puts the secret of oue venue’s enduring popularity down to having a strong passionate team with a keen eye for bookings across a variety of genres. Dot to Dot, our metropolitan festival, won the first ever Multi-Venue Festival award for our Bristol leg of the three city affair.
Now in its eighth year, the awards recognise excellence and talent among promoters, venue operators, festival organisers and agents, through to artiste managers, tour managers, show producers, brand impact and record label partnerships. The winners were announced at a ceremony in London on 12 October, following the annual conference and networking event Live UK Summit.
