Splendour Seals DHP Festival Success

Rousing headline sets by Tom Odell and the Happy Mondays at Nottingham’s Wollaton Park brought Splendour to a close in fine style in front of 15,000 fans on Saturday night (19 July) and set the seal on a highly successful festival season for promoter DHP Family.

The company launched the new ‘No Tomorrow festival in June, which drew rave reviews from the 10,000 plus crowd that flocked to see a headline set of slow-burn ballads from fast rising London Grammar. Supported by dance and chart friendly artists including Clean Bandit, Sam Smith and Eton Messy, the festival drew a predominately young adult audience to the over 18’s festival.

No Tomorrow is one of a growing roster of successful festivals launched and run by DHP Family in recent years bringing the company’s total festival audience to around 50,000 people per annum. As well as the established Splendour festival the company also operates several metropolitan, multi-venue festivals such as Dot to Dot, Everywhere and Hit the Deck which feature dozens of established and emerging acts.

Head of Festivals at DHP, Ali McLean said: “No Tomorrow was a big success because we delivered high quality artists at a well organised event. We’re looking at expanding our festival roster as we have the promoters who can identify and book an exciting mix of acts whether it’s a student-focussed festival like No Tomorrow, something more mass appeal like Splendour.”

Rising star of UK house, DJ and producer Duke Dumont secured a slot at No Tomorrow following his storming set at ‘Everywhere’ last year. The electronic music May Bank Holiday all-nighter, returned for a second year with an eclectic range of 50-plus acts across six city venues in Nottingham including DHP Family’s Rock City, Stealth and Rescue Rooms. Once again a complete sell out, the packed night-time schedule featured house and techno beats from top DJs as well as many of the vocalists and producers featuring on top dance tracks around the charts today.

Named as the UK’s Best Metropolitan Festival at the UK Festival Awards, Dot to Dot took place in May and was bigger and better than ever this year with 150 artists playing across 44 stages in 33 venues in Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham. The musically eclectic festival has firmly established itself as the UK’s best for unearthing the hottest new talent around with headliners Peace showing why they are the zeitgeist guitar band of 2014.

Playing across multiple venues on successive days during April in Bristol and Nottingham, Hit the Deck is all day festival featuring rock, punk, metal and hardcore acts such as US bands Brand New and Saves the Day to Welsh pop-bruisers The Blackout.
