Splendour Hits The Right Note

Last weekend saw the return of family festival Splendour to Nottingham’s Wollaton Park for its eighth outing, with large crowds being entertained by headliners such as The Specials, James and Bananarama.

We, alongside our event partner Nottingham City Council, also celebrated the milestone of selling more than 100,000 tickets in its eight year history.

Ali McLean, our head of festivals, said:

“DHP and Nottingham City Council would like to thank all our event partners for helping us to hold such a successful event. The programming this year was really spot on and we were just absolutely bowled over by the performances from The Specials, Bananarama, James, Lawson and all of the artists who performed. It was such a great party atmosphere, the weather was fantastic and sunny and we really couldn’t have asked for a better day.

“We’d like to thank everyone for coming and making one it one of the biggest and best Splendour Festivals in history, we tried a few new things that we are looking forward to expanding on like the new Kid’s Zone, Wonderland Party area and Fringe Stage so we are already looking forward to 2016!”

Numbers swelled to just under 20,000 capacity with ticket sales and an estimated 3,000 children on site. The expanded kids’ area with workshops and bigger and better fringe entertainment were well received by the large number of families enjoying the festival.
