Taking place at Nottingham’s Wollaton Park on 18-19 July, the line up sees Primal Scream, the Scottish rock band fronted by singer Bobby Gillespie behind stone-cold classics Movin’ On Up, Loaded and Rocks, play the festival for the first time.
Craig David – one of the biggest DJs in Ibiza with his TS5 soundsystem – went down a storm on his last outing at Wollaton Park. After emerging at the end of 1999 with instant UK garage classic Rewind, the multi award winning artist has scored 25 UK Top 40 singles and nine UK Top 40 albums.
Grammy winning international pop star Estelle will always be known for American Boy but her broad musical sensibilities have seen her achieve chart success across multiple genres with Thank You, Come Over and One Love, and earned her three MOBO awards.
Labelled ‘The Who of the 90s’, Noel Gallagher described watching Cast – who supported Oasis on their massive reunion tour – play live as ‘a religious experience.’ Expect anthemic, melodic and beautifully written songs for which they have always been loved by their fervent fanbase.
A band who have never been afraid of switching up their sound, Editors’ latest album is their most leftfield material yet – a thrilling, unrelenting thrust of full-bodied electro-industrial rock. Indie rock energy and raw authentic songwriting from The K’s make them a firm favourite on the live circuit with stand out songs from last year’s critically acclaimed album.
Formed in Oklahoma City in 1983, The Flaming Lips are one of the most iconic, influential, unpredictable and vital forces in American alternative rock music. Q Magazine named them one of the ‘50 Bands to See Before You Die’, while their spectacular interactive audio/visual events are legendary.
East Midlands natives’ hard life made an emotionally raw return last year with a new album blending genre-bending pop with themes of hardship, growth and resilience delivered by Murray Matravers with trademark charisma. Bringing their beautifully poetic songs, The Lathums nostalgic indie-rock sound and guitar-driven anthems combine to great effect with stellar vocals from frontman Alex Moore.
Irish indie folk trio Kingfishr are returning for a second year-running with their emotive songs following a year of phenomenal demand including a Rock City date which sold out months in advance.
Neville Staple from The Specials, the legendary multi-award-winning frontman and Original Rude Boy, continues to carry the flag for The Specials and Fun Boy Three performing hits and classics from his career.
Known for their high energy captivating live performances, The Pigeon Detectives come to Splendour off the back of a career spanning album showcasing their best songs from the last 20 years.
American group The Sugarhill Gang brought the world Rapper’s Delight, the first hip hop track to crossover to the mainstream and introduced many fans to the genre. Brooklyn disco funk group Say She She fuse disco and 70s funk citing Nile Rodgers and Chic as major influences.
Hometown favourites Divorce – fresh from selling out Rock City – and alt blk era – nominated for a MOBO for the third year running – make sure Nottingham’s stellar music talent is showcased on the biggest festival stage, with plenty more local talent to be found around the other stages.
Along with the artists announced for the festival’s two biggest stages, organisers are delighted to confirm the return of Day Fever, the daytime disco conceived by Nottingham’s own Vicky McClure, along with husband Johnny Owen and Reverend and the Makers’ Jon McClure.
As the sun sets, The Beatles Dub Club, celebrates the Fab Four with plenty of reggae, ska, latin, hip hop, dub, funk, house and even drum & bass takes on their songs while 6 Music’s Craig Charles will bring the sweetest funk and soul grooves.
The weekend offers several stages of music with a wonderful mix of acts to appeal across multiple generations. Alongside the music, there will be Little Splendours children’s area, silent disco, comedy, fairground rides, an independent market, gourmet food and drink and fringe entertainment all in the beautiful historic parkland.
