Future Sound of Nottingham Final

With Splendour only a few weeks away, NUSIC’s Future Sound of Nottingham competition has stepped up a gear. The six final acts are now preparing to win over top music industry judges and a live audience at Rock City on 22 June for the chance to open Splendour’s main stage in front of 20,000 people at Wollaton Park on Saturday 19 July.

This year’s finalists are alt-rock band Field Studies, disco-influenced Oscar Speed, 18-year-old indie folk singer Josh Wheatley, soulful songstress Joy Mumford, guitar based summery pop-rock band The Rascels and Crosa Rosa delivering grungy alt-rock with loads of distortion. With half of the vote being decided by the public on the night, fans are being urged to make their voices heard at the free event open to 14+ with no ticket required.

George Akins, DHP Family owner, said: “Our decision to reserve the main stage opening slot for one of the exciting new acts that comes through this annual battle has never been one we’ve regretted. To see the quality and diversity of musicians bubbling up each year is truly exciting and we’re delighted to be able to help many of them on their way to bright futures.”

All the finalists can be heard on the current Nusic New Music Podcast and will also be getting a play on Notts TV’s music programme Noise Floor from June 6.

You can get your ticket for Splendour for as little as £15 from www.splendourfestival.com as well as from venues including Rock City Box Office; Royal Centre; Nottingham Tourist Information and Nottingham City Council leisure centres and stay up to date with the latest line-up announcements and festival updates on the official websiteFacebook and Twitter.
